For Yellowhead travellers Vermilion is a must in your holiday plans. Experience the warmth and charm of Vermilion’s Historic Mainstreet with a walking tour of the downtown area which includes brick walkways, unique lighting and several historically significant buildings, all lovingly restored, each featuring an interesting shop or service for you to experience. This friendly, tree-lined community offers visitors historic appeal with the modern pleasures of an indoor swimming pool, fitness facility with racquetball courts, a 9-hole golf course with driving range and pro shop; in winter a 15 km cross-country ski trail where Beckie Scott trained — one of several Canadian Olympic athletes to come from this area.
Vermilion has several facilities to meet your needs including the Vermilion Regional Centre, a multi-use facility, featuring a 600 seat main hall, state of the art kitchen facilities, meeting and dance rooms and a kiddie oasis with a built in playground. Fun events are always in season – including a spring and fall rodeo, spring dance and music festivals and a summer agricultural fair.
The Vermilion Agricultural Society is pleased to present the 104th Annual Vermilion “Celebrating Community Spirit” Fair on July 29 - 31, 2010. The theme was chosen to exemplify the rejuvenation and beautification (Streetscapes Project) of Vermilion’s downtown core. Events include a parade, trade show, animal judging, pony chuck wagon, as well as chariot races, entertainment and agricultural/horticultural displays. Each year several thousand exhibitors showcase their talents in a friendly competitive spirit.
Places to visit within Vermilion are Lakeland College, the Vermilion Heritage Museum and the Vermilion Provincial Park, which provides serviced camping facilities, a wading pool, paved walking trails, a stocked trout pond and mini-golf for the kids.
